Reviewing King Canopy And SunSetter Motorized Retractable Awnings

Before you spend any time with trying to buy a Motorized Retractable Awning, you will need to do some research on what type of awnings are the best to cover your patio or deck. There are many companies on the market today that are dedicated to building only the best in retractable awnings. Two companies, the King Canopy company, and the SunSetter company, both claim that they make the ultimate and top of the line awnings. The following is a review of two specific canopies sold by these companies.

The first Motorized Retractable Awning we will discuss is the 12 X 10 King Canopy sunbrella fabric retractable awning with a motorized crank. The sunbrella fabric described in the title is a solution-dyed acrylic fabric that is supposed to resist fading, moisture, and mold for years. The awning itself can be easily self-installed to any house or shed with a powder-coated galvanized mounting bar, along with mounting brackets and lag bolts that are included in the box. The entire frame of the awning is made out of powder-coated aluminum, with two swing arms on either side attached to an aluminum front bar. The awning is powered by a simu motor from Somfy International, with a hand-held remote included for easy set up and tear down.

Now, for the sake of the review, we will use the 12 X 10 Motorized Retractable Awning available from SunSetter. The certified SunSetter fabric on the awning is said to have 99.9% UVA and UVB protection, along with being waterproof and mildew resistant. Like the King Canopy Awning, the SunSetter awning offers two lateral arms on either side of the unit, attached to a front bar to allow for the entire unit to be suspended in mid air. The interesting fact about this awning that the King Canopy company does not mention is that it can be installed on any type of siding, including wood, masonry, brick, aluminum, and vinyl. A special masonry drill bit is also included for attaching the unit to a brick wall. A Somfy International motor is responsible for running the awning, with the option of a manual override if the power happens to go out. A hand-held remote is also included in the box to allow for opening and closing of the unit from almost anywhere.

Overall, both units are priced about the same. In my personal opinion, SunSetter would probably the better option since they have the bigger reputation of being one of the best in the business. Either way, the next time you are looking out the window and want to find a way to eclipse the sun without paying a fortune, make sure to look up King Canopy and SunSetter Motorized Retractable Awnings.
